Born and raised in Coquitlam, Wesley initially graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology. He worked as a Kinesiologist for several years, primarily at Club Aviva working with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. He then moved on to Australia and graduated from the University of Sydney with a Masters of Physiotherapy in 2016.
While working in Australia, he gained experience working in a clinic specializing in treating patients with short- and long-term neurological disorders, such as stroke, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury, and others. He has also spent significant time working in hospitals treating patients recovering from orthopaedic surgeries and specialized in fall prevention.
Before becoming a physiotherapist, Wesley had several knee injuries, the worst of which included an ACL tear. Having been through the process of rehabilitation himself, he understands the physical and mental fortitude it requires to not only return to a previous level of athleticism and function but to push for more.
There is not a better feeling in the world than returning from an injury, stronger and faster than before! While he enjoys treating all different types of individuals, Wesley has a special passion for knee-related conditions and injuries, ranging from longer-term pain symptoms like arthritis to the sudden knee sprain while playing your favourite sport.
Outside of the clinic, Wesley has spent time coaching youth basketball and as a Sports Trainer for several basketball leagues. In his spare time, he keeps himself active by weight training, competing in basketball and volleyball leagues, and hiking.
Currently, Wesley is a candidate for full Physiotherapy licensing and will complete his exams for accreditation in Canada in 2020. Before then, he is working under the title “Interim Physiotherapist”.
